A guarantees judge in the province of Colón ordered provisional detention for a 24-year-old man, accused of aggravated homicide, which cost the life of 33-year-old Yurexei Yurim Ortiz, known in the neighborhood as “Buho”. The incident occurred on calle 2, Avenida Bolívar, where the victim was shot in the left gluteus. Seriously injured, he was assisted and urgently taken to the Dr. Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital Complex, but he did not survive and minutes later his death was confirmed. During the multiple requests hearing, Judge Yadielka Peralta evaluated the evidence presented by the parties and considered that detention was necessary, taking into account the seriousness of the crime and procedural risks, such as the possible flight of the accused and the affectation of the evidence. Before imposing the measure, the court legalized the apprehension and allowed the charges presented by the Public Ministry, represented by prosecutor Maikol Brown. The defense of the accused was in charge of public defender Shaneyka Moore.
