The call to pay attention to the province of Colón has emerged from various voices, highlighting its important contribution to the country. Deputy Carlos "Tito" Afú expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of investments in the region, pointing out the need for greater attention. In particular, he questioned the effectiveness of the Patronatos, considering them an unnecessary expense. In the Budget Commission, Afú warned about possible consequences for the Amador Guerrero Hospital in Colón.
The Budget Commission of the National Assembly continues with its analysis of the budget hearings, having reviewed four institutions so far. Despite delays, the importance of carefully examining the budget allocated to the Ministry of Health (MINSA) for 2025 has been emphasized. Deputy Sara Magallón, representative of Colón, highlighted the inadequacy of investment in the region, especially in health centers and hospitals.
Health Minister Fernando Boyd defended the budget allocated to MINSA, acknowledging budgetary limitations but committing to fulfill responsibilities. The future construction of a new hospital in Colón was mentioned, which is expected to be one of the best in the region. Despite the concerns raised, it was assured that ongoing works will not be halted, although there was a call to review and adjust the current budget.
In this context, Deputy Magallón called on Boyd, as well as the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and President José Raúl Mulino, to reevaluate and improve the allocated budget. There was a determination to continue working for the benefit of the population and the development of the province of Colón.
