The Chiriquí team became champions of the Little League Baseball National Championship and secured their return to the Little League World Series, an event they had not reached since 1993. The Chiriquí team sealed their qualification on Friday, March 20, by defeating Panama West 8-4 in the third and decisive game of the final series, played at the Capleton stadium in Juan Díaz. The conquest has a special meaning, as it breaks a more than three-decade absence for Chiriquí from Williamsport, recalling that historic 1993 participation of the David-Doleguita team, which reached the tournament final. The road to the title was not easy. Although they dominated the regular round undefeated (5-0), in the semifinals they had to give their all, winning three consecutive games (3-2) and playing a tiebreaker round, where they defeated Herrera 7-3 to advance to the final. In the grand final, they offered a very disputed match, but ended up falling 3-2 to California (US West Region), finishing as the world runners-up. Now Del Cid has his set on the World Series, equaling the team of director Carlos Botello in 1993.
