With the aim of strengthening tourism development in the district of Mariato, Veraguas province, Mayor Ángel Batista held a meeting with members of the Israeli embassy in Panama. During the meeting, ideas and projections were exchanged aimed at generating interest from this diplomatic mission in supporting investment initiatives in the region. The mayor explained that the main objective is to manage possible cooperation funds that will allow for the expansion and revitalization of tourism in the southern coastal area of Veraguas province, through the creation of commercial strategies and sustainable development that contribute to improving the quality of life for hundreds of families in the district. Batista stated that for many years, tourism in Mariato had stagnated due to the lack of planning and action from previous administrations. He indicated that there are multiple natural attractions with high potential, such as beaches, rivers, ports, trails, and beautiful coastlines, that have not been able to be exploited for tourism due to the lack of adequate access roads and highways. The mayor highlighted that this initiative seeks to open new opportunities for the district, betting on international cooperation as a way to generate employment, attract visitors, and turn Mariato into a competitive tourist destination within Veraguas province.
