Acodeco finds 58 irregularities during Black Friday operation

Panama's Consumer Protection and Competition Authority (Acodeco) detected a total of 58 irregularities during nationwide verification operations for the "Black Friday" 2025 sales. The main violation was the omission of the end date for special offers and sales, accounting for 42 of the infractions. Other documented irregularities included 13 cases of unmarked or non-visible public prices, 4 cases of expired products, 3 cases of failing to indicate "while supplies last," 2 cases of products lacking dual pricing (before and after the discount), and 2 cases of misleading advertising. The administrator of Acodeco, Ramón Abadi Balid, stated that after the "Black Friday" operation, the authority will focus on preparing for the Christmas season. Upcoming actions include verifying Christmas advertising and offers, inspecting scanners to ensure the visible price matches the registered price at checkout, checking the net content of typical holiday-packaged goods, and conducting surveys on the prices of ingredients for the Christmas dinner. Acodeco reiterates its commitment to receiving and addressing complaints nationwide.

"It is crucial to report the name and location of the business along with a description of the irregularity for effective verification."
