Central American Economy Ministers to Meet in Panama

Economy ministers from Central America will meet in Panama City on Tuesday for the 39th meeting of the region's governors, organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (BID). The official '39th Meeting of the Governors of the Central American Isthmus, Panama and the Dominican Republic' of the BID Group will take place at the Panama Convention Center, located in the capital by the Canal. Among the confirmed participants are Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino, his economy minister Felipe Chapman, the finance ministers of Costa Rica and El Salvador, Rudolf Lücke and Jerson Posada, respectively. Also expected are the head of Guatemala's finance portfolio, Jonathan Menkos, and his counterpart from Honduras, Emilio Hernández. The president of the BID, Ilan Goldfajn, as well as presidents of central banks and 'economic and financial authorities of the region' will also be present to 'address strategic issues of common interest', such as 'the regional development agenda, productivity, economic integration, and climate adaptation'.
