Fourth Bridge Consortium Calls to Not Halt Work After SUNTRACS Warning

This is not a whim, but a pattern of violations,” stated Córdoba in a video shared on digital platforms. Although SUNTRACS has not yet issued a formal strike notice, the message raised alarms on a strategic project for the country's connectivity. Reaction from the Consortium Amid this tense atmosphere, the Panama Fourth Bridge Consortium (CPCP), the company in charge of the project's execution, issued a circular calling on workers not to halt the work and to resume their functions within the framework of labor and safety laws. In its statement, the consortium reiterated its commitment to the Panamanian State, through the Ministry of Public Works, to guarantee the continuity, execution, and timely delivery of the project, emphasizing that it is a key infrastructure for national development. The consortium called on the entire workforce, operational and technical personnel, and subcontractors to resume their duties while complying with the safety protocols, discipline, and commitment required for a project of this magnitude. Likewise, the company stated that it respects the individual decision of each worker but reaffirmed its right, as a state contractor, to maintain the project's execution in accordance with current legislation and labor agreements. "Work is a fundamental human right that we defend and promote, along with respect for Panamanian labor legislation and the acquired rights of workers," the CPCP's communication noted. Strategic Project Under Pressure The Fourth Bridge over the Canal is one of the country's most important infrastructures, aimed at improving the connection between West Panama and the capital. Any paralysis would have an immediate economic, logistical, and social impact. For now, the situation remains at the level of a union warning and the consortium's preventive response, without a formal strike call registered with the labor authorities.
