The Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel) has announced strict monitoring of hiring for the construction of the Fourth Bridge over the Panama Canal. Following inspections, it was found that the number of foreign workers, particularly from Asia, exceeds the legal limit. Minister of Labor Jackeline Muñoz stated that the government has strengthened control mechanisms to ensure compliance with labor laws. She emphasized that there is sufficient qualified local labor to integrate into such projects. Authorities reiterated that the contractor, the CPCP consortium, will no longer be granted exceptions for hiring foreign workers. Meanwhile, Panamanian workers can apply for positions through the consortium's website or Mitradel. This comes after numerous complaints from locals who have been unable to secure jobs on the site, which is staffed by a large number of Asian workers.
