The Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama (MAC Panamá) has announced its cultural agenda for the month of December, offering visitors a series of exhibitions that delve into themes of identity, memory, and historical reclamation. The exhibitions showcase the development of contemporary art in the country and reflect the commitment of the satellite location to the local artistic ecosystem and the projection of Panamanian artists to new audiences.
Central Exhibitions at MAC Panamá:
Musa. This exhibition is marked by the color blue, symbolizing the oceans and the search for reunion. The exhibition is a curatorial act that seeks to rescue and celebrate the works of women artists by intertwining the permanent collections of MAC Panamá and the MAMM of Medellín. Historically, the legacy of these female creators has been overshadowed in art records. The exhibition is presented as an act of poetic justice and a curatorial gesture focused on rescuing, making visible, and celebrating the works of women artists.
60+1: The small great museum of Ancón. As an adaptation of the exhibition presented between 2023 and 2024 at the Ancón branch, the exhibition 60+1 arrives in the Casco Antiguo to offer an intimate tour through the history of MAC Panamá. This room reveals the roots and evolution of the museum through a selection of works from its permanent collection, documents, and photographs from its Archive Room.
In addition to this proposal, MAC Panamá presents the exhibition titled "What happens when our home begins to blur?", which reflects on exile, acculturation, and the slow erosion of roots.
