Cubans residing in Panama reject the invasion of Cuba.
After describing the difficult moment the world is going through, shaken by military and interventionist threats that erode peace efforts, the ambassador urged Cubans and Latin American patriots to help stop Washington's plans of aggression against Cuba and its people.
Pérez-Pérez highlighted in his speech the warning of Major General Antonio Maceo, one of the mambí leaders and inspirer of Cuba's independence, also known as the "Titan of Bronze" for his feats on the battlefield:
"Whoever tries to seize Cuba will collect the dust of its soil, soaked in blood, if he does not perish in the struggle".
In this sense, the diplomat maintained that "Cuba and its people will defend their revolution", without being intimidated or bowed by hostile and brutal powers that aggress the region.
Solidarity with Cuba to defeat the blockade.
Representatives of the solidarity movements in Panama spoke at the ceremony, during which a floral offering was placed at the bust dedicated to José Martí, apostle of Cuban independence and founder of advanced Latin Americanist thought.

Ambassador of Cuba in Panama, Orestes Pérez-Pérez.
The ambassador of Cuba in Panama, Orestes Pérez-Pérez, affirmed today in the Panamanian capital that Cuban patriots will never surrender to the empire or interventionist threats.
In an official event held on Wednesday afternoon in front of the bust of the Cuban poet and philosopher José Martí, on the occasion of the 173rd anniversary of his birth, the diplomat stated that "Cuba and its people will defend their revolution in this sacred and decisive hour, and will defend the homeland with their own lives".
The pronouncement recalled the massive March of the Torches in Havana, in which tribute was paid in memory of the 32 Cuban fighters who fell in the defense of Venezuela, invaded this year by troops from the United States Army.
Pérez-Pérez highlighted that the March of the Torches was not only a tribute to Martí, but also "a commitment to the homeland, to the revolution, and to the heroic Cubans who have fallen all these years" in defense of sovereignty and human dignity.
He argued that "the night (of the March of the Torches) was illuminated, as the Cuban revolution will continue to be illuminated in the coming years", despite the illegal blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean island.
The historic March of the Torches was initiated on January 27, 1953, by students such as Fidel Castro to commemorate the centenary of José Martí.
In this regard, he emphasized the fighting spirit and revolutionary thought of José Martí and Fidel Castro, who were loyal to the patriotic principles and postulates they defended.
