Panamanian authorities are intensifying monitoring of tourist packages and offers ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition Defense (Acodeco) held a strategic meeting with representatives of various travel agencies to establish preventive measures regarding the sale of tourist services in the face of high demand generated by the upcoming world championship.

Led by Administrator Ramón Abadi Balid, the meeting's main objective was to ensure the sale of tourist packages and tickets is carried out within the framework of Panamanian law.

This initiative is part of a comprehensive information campaign designed to mitigate the risks of irregularities and scams, considering the high interest generated by the possible participation of the national team in the tournament.

Acodeco strongly recommends that citizens follow strict protocols before making any financial disbursements:

• Legal verification: Confirm that the agency has a valid operating notice in Panama and has verifiable physical offices. • Contracts and payments: Demand written contracts in Spanish detailing refund policies and penalties. • Secure payment methods: Use secure payment methods and be wary of requests for immediate transfers without backing. • Official channels: Purchase tickets only through authorized sites to avoid fake tickets that could prevent access to stadiums.

The authority emphasized that access to clear and truthful information is the main tool of defense for fans planning to attend the event.

During the meeting, Acodeco executives emphasized that any offer related to the 2026 World Cup must clearly specify its validity period. It was warned that the use of ambiguous phrases such as "while supplies last", without detailing the quantities available, constitutes a violation of consumer protection regulations.

Suppliers were also urged to provide detailed written information about the services included, such as accommodation, transfers, taxes, and tickets.

Acodeco reiterated that it will maintain constant monitoring of advertising and business practices linked to the sporting event.

A call to consumers: Consumers were called to compare prices and keep all payment receipts for possible future claims.

To report any irregularity, the institution has its virtual assistant Sindi available 24 hours a day via WhatsApp and Telegram at number 6330-3333, as well as its official social networks and institutional web portal.
