In Panama, a person died in the early morning of December 31st on José Agustín Arango Street, near the Santa Mónica residential area, located in the corregimiento of Las Mañanitas (Panamá Este). The victim's body was left in the middle of the four-lane road, right on the pedestrian crossing (zebra), in front of an old glass factory. Apparently, the person was crossing the road when they were hit by a vehicle that failed to make the mandatory stop and killed them, on New Year's Eve. Units from the National Police's Traffic Operations Directorate arrived at the scene and blocked traffic on the inner lanes of the road, leaving the outer lanes free to allow for vehicular circulation while the necessary procedures were carried out.
