Titled "Amalanga awafani" (Not all days are the same), the exhibition will be inaugurated this Saturday, January 24, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Panama and will remain open to the public for free until April 19, 2026. Dialogue, Inclusion, and Representation The photographic exhibition explores the conditions of visibility, safety, and belonging of Black queer communities, integrating pieces from her famous series "Somnyama Ngonyama" and "Faces and Phases". The exhibition invites visitors to discover the most human side of contemporary art through black-and-white portraits that capture specific moments of survival and social change. The inauguration ceremony will take place this Saturday, January 24, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the headquarters of Casa Santa Ana, located on the Esplanade, at the entrance to the Casco Viejo. Visibility and Resilience: The work of Zanele Muholi arrives at Casa Santa Ana The renowned South African artist exhibits her work on identity and human dignity for the first time in the region in a free exhibition open until April. Additionally, on Monday, January 26, a conversation with the artist will be held at the Interoceanic Canal Museum at 7:00 p.m., complementing an educational agenda that will be developed during the months of the exhibition. MarĂ­a Eugenia Herrera, Minister of Culture, highlighted that the arrival of this artist at Casa Santa Ana is fundamental for fostering cultural spaces that reflect all the voices and realities of society. The artist describes her work as a "daily prayer", emphasizing that her portraits transcend the personal to represent the bodies of the women of her lineage. Zanele Muholi expressed her gratitude to Casa Santa Ana for facilitating a necessary conversation in Panama about the complexity and joy in the face of the annulment of identities. Programming and Community Access Carolina Hausmann, director of the Casa Santa Ana Foundation, pointed out that this exhibition fulfills the center's mission to connect the community with art from a reflective and accessible perspective. In these works, Muholi uses photography as a resource to delve into concepts of identity, memory, and human dignity.
