Panama Metro's Albrook Station to Open on March 8

The Panama Metro informs its users and the general public that the Albrook station will begin its service on Sunday, March 8, at 10:00 a.m. This is due to the start of work to install the new roof of the station as part of the integration project and future connection between lines 1 and 3. During the time period from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 8, Line 1 will operate in both directions from the Villa Zaita station to the 5 de Mayo station. During this period, the Albrook station and the pedestrian walkway connecting to the Grand Transport Terminal will be temporarily out of service. These works are part of the system's modernization plan and include replacing the current cover with a large-sized space structure designed to improve user safety, functionality, and comfort. The intervention at the Albrook station will be developed in seven phases, due to the magnitude of the structure and the safety measures required. These will operate in a coordinated manner to assemble part of the components of the cover structure that will protect the stations of Line 1 and 3. The new roof will be 56 meters wide and 115 meters long. The work will be carried out exclusively on weekends and will be communicated in a timely manner to facilitate the planning of users' trips. Each phase will have a duration of approximately between 8 and 13 hours and will count on the support of two large-capacity cranes, located in the Corridor area and in the urban area of the station.
