Multiple people are injured and one person is missing after fuel tankers near a bridge in Panama exploded, sparking an enormous blast. The explosion engulfed the Bridge of the Americas in Panama City on Monday, 4:12pm local time, after a fire broke out at the Balboa oil tank facility. Shocking footage captured the moment the blast exploded around the bridge, showing the flames wrapping above and over the road, with drivers attempting to flee the flames. The cause was not immediately known. Fire officials said two people with second-degree burns were rescued from the scene and were treated by firefighters and emergency responders. Two firefighters also suffered first- and second-degree burns and were taken to a hospital. At least five emergency vehicles were working at the scene, carrying out firefighting and cooling operations. Authorities said crews were searching for a possible person who may have been trapped in the affected area. No further information about the individual was immediately available. The Bridge of the Americas is a vital roadway, spanning 1654m, spanning the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal.
