Panama to Host 'Day of Good Deeds'

This Sunday, April 12th, the country will host a new edition of the 'Day of Good Deeds,' a volunteer day that brings together social organizations, companies, and citizens for community activities. This global initiative is being held for the eleventh time nationally and is organized by the Jewish-Panamanian Foundation (JUPÁ), B'nai B'rith Panama, and Volunteers of Panama. JUPÁ's Executive Director, Roberto Mera, highlighted that this is an international movement that takes place simultaneously in several countries. For the 2026 edition, the campaign is centered around the slogan 'By doing good, you inspire,' aimed at encouraging more people to get involved in social initiatives. This year, the country was also designated by the regional committee as the flagbearer for the 'Day of Good Deeds' in Latin America, recognizing its contribution to the movement. As part of this distinction, the symbol has traveled across various provinces during community events. According to the organizers, over 295 non-profit organizations are part of the digital platform for those wishing to join as volunteers for the various scheduled activities. In the days leading up to the event, various groups have carried out solidarity actions as part of the event's agenda. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the City of Knowledge in Clayton starting at 10:00 a.m., where recognition will be given to the street sweepers and manual cleaners of the Urban and Domestic Cleaning Authority (AAUD), known as 'Little Ants,' for their work in maintaining public spaces. The organizers stated that the event aims to promote citizen participation and highlight the impact of volunteering in different communities.
