La Caja de Seguro Social (CSS) reported that medical services were fully restored at the Dr. Manuel Ferrer Valdés clinic, located in Calidonia, following an incident that occurred on the morning of March 12, 2026. Earlier, a fire alarm was triggered in the first floor of the medical center, forcing the activation of safety protocols and the precautionary evacuation of patients and staff while the situation was assessed. According to the report, the incident originated in the external unit of a split-type air conditioner in one of the offices. Following the alert, units from the Panama Fire Department arrived at the scene and conducted the necessary review. Authorities confirmed that there were no reported injuries or material damages, allowing firefighters to authorize the re-entry of staff and patients, enabling medical services to resume normal operations. The CSS stated that some patients will be attended to today, while others will be rescheduled for Friday, March 13, and subsequent days to ensure continued medical care.
