Chilibre plant at 90% after failure that cut production

The Chilibre water treatment plant is currently operating at 90% of its capacity following a power failure at one of its treated water pumping stations, the IDAAN reported on April 12. According to the agency, the incident caused production to drop to 50%, which forced its technical team to intervene to carry out the necessary repairs. After the work, the system managed to recover partially, although it still has not reached 100%. In light of this situation, the IDAAN reiterated its call on residents of Panama City and San Miguelito to make moderate use of potable water to maintain an equitable distribution while the service recovery is completed. The institution stated that it will continue to report on the progress in normalizing the system and asked for understanding from the public for the disruptions caused by the failure at the Chilibre water treatment plant.
