The Board of Directors of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO), meeting at its permanent headquarters, issued a Declaration in defense of the dignity of migrants from Latin America and the Caribbean. Led by Deputy Rolando González Patricio, the Board urged the Parliaments of the region, the Executives of the States, as well as the international community to ensure respect for the human rights of all people subject to mass deportation measures.
In the statement, PARLATINO urges the search for mechanisms that mitigate the possible adverse effects on the families and communities of migrants. It reaffirms the commitment to a political dialogue focused on addressing the causes of current migration flows and advocating for orderly, regular, and safe migration.
The Latin American and Caribbean Parliament strongly rejects any measures that jeopardize the life, safety, and dignity of migrants in the region. The issued Declaration focuses on promoting respect for human rights and mitigating the negative impacts that may arise from mass deportation actions.
In the words of the president of the PARLATINO Board, it is emphasized that "it is essential to safeguard the dignity and rights of migrants, ensuring safe and humane conditions in any migration process". This stance reflects the regional body's commitment to the protection of Latin American and Caribbean migrants, seeking to create spaces for dialogue and collaboration to address the complex migratory reality in the region.
