In Panama, two U.S. citizens were arrested at Tocumen International Airport while attempting to pass through their luggage loaded with drugs. The illicit substance was hidden in the walls of the suitcases. There, under a lining, they found slabs of drugs attached to the structure. In this situation, both women were handcuffed and taken to the nearest police station, and then handed over to the Drug Prosecutor's Office along with the seized evidence. According to Article 255 of the Panama Penal Code, international drug trafficking can be punishable by 8 to 15 years in prison. Through intelligence and profiling actions, units of the National Police located the alleged drug traffickers. The women's nervousness gave them away, so the officers took them to a separate area from the flow of travelers, where they asked them several questions and searched their luggage. Initially, the contents of the suitcases seemed normal; however, once empty, they weighed more than usual. This finding motivated a thorough inspection of the luggage walls.
