Tomorrow, at the 49th Ordinary Session, the Panama City Municipal Council will debate the exemption for the Christmas Vereda in San Felipe and a new incentive for the private sector to support the improvement of public spaces.
The first project, presented by councilman Mario Kennedy with notable urgency, seeks to exempt the San Felipe Community Board from municipal taxes during the 2025-2026 Christmas Vereda, a festive corridor where entrepreneurs from the district will be able to sell food, desserts, crafts, drinks, and all seasonal merchandise from December 6th to January 4th. The intention is to boost the local economy without so many red tape during the Christmas season.
The second point is proposed by councilman Rodolfo Rodríguez, who suggests a mechanism for the private sector to participate in the development of parks, sidewalks, and common areas of the municipality, in exchange for partial exemptions in outdoor advertising. A plan that could change the face of several public spaces if approved.
Tomorrow's session begins at 10:00 a.m. in the Manuel Amador Guerrero Hall, where there will also be a busy agenda. With courtesy of the floor, Esteban Goddard, of the Panamanian Union of Arts Professionals, and Pedro M. Díaz N., representative of Puentes y Calzadas Infraestructura, will be invited to present their topics before the councilors.
