In Panama, a judge charged a man who stabbed his neighbor to death during a fight. In a separate case, a suspect in an August murder was detained.


Judge Charges Man with Stabbing Neighbor to Death in Panama

Panama - A guarantees judge charged Clemente Trujillo (42), accused of aggravated intentional homicide. He is accused of stabbing Abdiel Alexander Ortega (28) to death, which occurred early Sunday morning, January 11, in Cabo Verde, Corregimiento de Curundú.

During the multiple requests hearing, the judge, after declaring his apprehension legal, admitted the charges and applied the precautionary measure of provisional detention.

The case file details that on Sunday morning, Ortega and Trujillo got into a fight during which a bladed weapon was used. Trujillo allegedly stabbed Ortega in the left side of the chest, and although he was taken by taxi to Santo Tomás Hospital, he died.

Relatives of Ortega, who were in the emergency room, identified Trujillo as the killer upon seeing him, so he was apprehended by units of the National Police.

In another case, a 25-year-old man, accused of being one of the participants in the murder of Marcelino Saldaña (34), known as 'Chelo Chapa', was also provisionally detained for his alleged involvement in this bloody incident, which occurred on August 13, 2025, in the district of Bugaba (Chiriquí).
