The National Police confirmed that during the apprehension of two adults and a minor, its units were attacked by local residents with bottles and other blunt objects while carrying out their duties. The police stated in a press release that their actions were in strict accordance with established protocols and current legislation.
Vladimir Torres, one of those involved in the incident and the minor's father, told TVN that police officers exited their vehicles aggressively and pushed his son. Torres stated that when he confronted the officers in defense of his child, one of them allegedly told him that he could take his son "because he is a minor and there is a curfew".
The National Police reported that it has already initiated an internal investigation, which, according to them, will be conducted transparently. The purpose is to clarify the allegations of alleged abuses and determine the circumstances under which the events occurred.
The incident took place last Sunday at 10:00 p.m. in the Concepción sector, Juan Díaz district.
