The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, will arrive in Panama on Thursday afternoon. This is the first official visit to the country by a Ukrainian foreign minister. The head of Panamanian diplomacy will host a lunch in honor of the Ukrainian minister and his delegation, who will conclude his official visit to Panama at the end of the afternoon. Minister Sybiha's visit comes after two meetings held by President José Raúl Mulino with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at international forums. Sybiha will follow an agenda that includes meetings with his Panamanian counterpart, Javier Martínez-Acha, the signing of bilateral agreements, an encounter with deputies of the National Assembly, and the inauguration of the new Ukrainian diplomatic headquarters in the country. It was reported that Minister Martínez-Acha will receive Minister Sybiha early on Friday at the Bolívar Palace, with whom he will hold a private meeting and then an expanded meeting before signing two agreements. Panama and Ukraine have maintained diplomatic relations since 1993, recently strengthened by Panama's support for Ukrainian sovereignty and cooperation in commercial, technical, and diplomatic areas. Subsequently, the Ukrainian minister will meet at the National Assembly with the president of the Foreign Relations Commission, Deputy Walkiria Chandler, and deputies of this Legislative Body. Both countries have signed seven agreements and have another six under negotiation, covering topics such as trade, cooperation against drug trafficking, education, exchange of tax information, and migrant workers.
