Cubans in Panama Condemn Trump's Threats

The Association of Cubans in Panama condemned U.S. President Donald Trump's threats against Cuba, calling them a violation of international law and an attack on the island's sovereignty.

Panama City, April 3 (Prensa Latina) – The Marti Association of Cubans Residing in Panama (Amcrp) condemned today the constant threats from the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who has openly declared his intention to 'take Cuba'. In a statement, this collective describes these remarks as interventionist, violators of international law, and an attack on the sovereignty and dignity of the largest of the Antillean islands. They also repudiated the criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade, as well as any action that seeks to bend the will of our people, according to the message. Likewise, the Amcrp denounced the growing U.S. military presence in the region and the systematic threats to peace and stability. In this context, they reaffirmed the unwavering disposition of the Cuban people and Cubans residing abroad, especially those living in Panama, to defend the Homeland, its independence, and its Revolution. 'We will not allow any type of aggression to be repeated, and we are prepared to give the necessary battle to preserve our sovereignty,' the text adds. It also warns about the possible use of Panamanian territory as a warmongering platform in the region. In this regard, they demanded that the neutrality of the isthmus be respected and that its soil not be allowed to be used to prepare any military action against Cuba or any other Latin American country.
