Dominican Apprehended at Panama Airport After 8 Months on the Run

Panama - After more than 8 months on the run, a Dominican with a Panamanian ID was apprehended this Wednesday at Tocumen International Airport. He had been linked to a drug seizure case. The suspect had an arrest warrant against him issued by the Drug Prosecutor's Office, so when he arrived in Panama on a flight from Medellín, Colombia, he was detected through the terminal's security controls. Since July 28, 2025, the man had been wanted, as on that day a two-story residence in the Villa Zaita sector (Ernesto Córdoba Campos district) was raided by the Public Ministry and the National Police. The foreigner was present during the operation and apparently was sure there was nothing inside the property, but he still called his lawyer. Seeing this, the foreigner jumped from the first floor and fled. Why did he do that? The vehicle had a double bottom, inside which the authorities found 61 packages of drugs, as well as various evidence related to possible illicit activities. These pieces of evidence were key to the initiation of the investigation against him.
