Dismantling of International Drug Trafficking Network

The National Police and the Public Ministry of Panama dismantle a criminal group in Operation Jungle, capturing 34 members involved in international drug trafficking.

The National Police and the Public Ministry have carried out Operation Jungle in the provinces of Panama, Panama West, and Colon with the aim of dismantling a criminal group dedicated to International Drug Trafficking. This group sent illicit substances through port terminals.

In the raids conducted, 34 alleged members of this criminal organization have been arrested, including alias 'Chuki,' identified as their leader, as well as several dock workers. Four firearms, ammunition, nine vehicles, and more than 10 thousand dollars in cash have been confiscated.

Activities related to International Drug Trafficking have generated significant income for this criminal network, allowing them to acquire luxury properties in exclusive areas and create front companies.

Investigations into this group began more than two years ago and revealed their alleged involvement in the contamination of containers with drugs destined for Europe and the United States. To carry out their operations, they received drugs from Colombia via fast boats on the Pacific coasts of Panama.

During the investigation period, this criminal group has been seized a total of 3,244 drug packages, six articulated vehicles, and more than 69 thousand dollars in various operational actions, in addition to the capture of 12 people in the act.

The detainees and the evidence collected will be made available to the Superior Prosecutor's Office for Drugs to continue with the corresponding legal process.
