Plaza Amador secured its ninth title in the top tier of Panamanian football, while Alianza was left without a star.

However, in the closing moments of the match, Alberto "Negrito" Quintero reappeared, setting up a ball for José Murillo in the 83rd minute to score Plaza Amador's second goal. The team coached by Mario "El Cholito" Méndez controlled the game's tempo against an Alianza side that occasionally "responded" and put the placinos in a tight spot.

This was Mario Méndez's fourth final in the LPF, making him the first coach to reach four consecutive finals in the top division of Panamanian football.

For the second half, Alianza tried to find an equalizer, but the placinos knew how to control and possess the ball on the field.
