Booz Baruc had to give his all and resist Motek's strong challenges to win the Luis Shirley Classic, held at the Hipódromo Presidente Remón, thus securing the Triple Crown for Imported horses. Booz Baruc is a two-year-old chestnut colt, son of Runhappy out of Lizzie (by Violence), defending the colors of the García Racing Stable, trained by Roberto Arango and ridden by jockey Yonis Lasso. The winner covered the 1,400-meter distance in a time of exactly 1:24, after fractions of 22.3 seconds for the first 400 meters, 45.1 seconds for the 800 meters, and 1:10.3 seconds for the 1,200 meters. The finish order for the classic event was as follows: Booz Baruc first; Motek second; Le Tourniquet third; Into Justice fourth; and Come Candela rounding out the top five.
