Chorrillo FC, Panama's Champions, Kick Off New Season

Panama's women's football champions, Chorrillo FC, open the 2026 Clausura tournament. Coach Raiza Gutiérrez discusses the team's plans for a three-peat and the tough competition ahead.

The reigning champions of Panamanian women's football, Chorrillo FC, will open the 2026 Clausura tournament of the Panamanian Football League (LFF) against Inter Panamá FC. The match is scheduled for Wednesday evening at Eagles Stadium. Chorrillo's coach, Raiza Gutiérrez, acknowledges it will be a difficult tournament, as all teams have strengthened their rosters. 'We are the 2025 champions, and the other teams study us,' she added. Chorrillo FC, a mix of youth and experience, aims for a three-peat. Ten teams will compete in the Clausura, divided into two conferences: East and West. The competition format includes a 14-match regular season, followed by playoffs. The top two teams in the overall standings advance directly, while the 3rd vs. 6th and 4th vs. 5th teams will play in single-match playoffs. If the 2025 Clausura champion also wins the 2026 title, they will represent Panama in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. If different champions are crowned, a Super Final will be held to decide the representative. The grand final is set for May 10th.
