Beach Temporarily Closed Due to Flooding Risk

Panama's civil protection agency has temporarily closed a popular beach due to a flooding risk from heavy rains. Authorities urge the public to follow safety precautions.

The National System for Civil Protection (Sinaproc) ordered the temporary closure of Las Mendoza beach in the district of Penonomé (Coclé) on Tuesday, February 17, as a preventive measure due to heavy rains registered in the upper basin of the area.

This situation poses a risk to bathers and visitors, especially on this Carnival Tuesday. The entity also monitors the behavior of the Zaratí River and provides guidance to citizens to avoid incidents.

Officials from Sinaproc remain in the area, constantly monitoring weather conditions and the level of the Zaratí River. According to the entity, heavy rains have caused a significant increase in the river's flow.

The entity reiterated its call for the population to respect the signs and warnings placed at the site, reminding that prevention is essential to safeguard lives.
