Residents and producers of at least five communities in Santiago, as well as other areas in Montijo district, face serious difficulties in moving due to structural damage to the suspension bridge over the CuvĂbora River. This infrastructure was severely affected by the flooding during the last rainy season. Rogelio Guerra, a farmer, stated that the force of the water twisted the bridge's structure, causing fear among those who must cross it daily for their activities. The situation directly impacts students, workers, and especially small and medium-sized producers who depend on this route to transport their crops and products to local markets. Porfirio Atencio mentioned that the bridge's deterioration has limited the safe passage of people and goods, forcing in some cases to use longer, alternate routes in poor condition, which increases transportation costs and travel time. Agricultural producers in the area expressed their concern, as the difficulty in mobility could lead to economic losses, especially during high-production seasons. 'This bridge is our main connection; if it collapses, we will be practically cut off,' said one of those affected.
