Panama - A 26-year-old man known as 'Javi' will be remanded to the public jail of Santiago, in Veraguas, after a judge ordered his provisional detention. He was linked to the theft of a safe in a residence located in the Villa del Sur neighborhood, which contained clothing and watches valued at approximately $13,000. During the multiple requests hearing, the First Section of Economic Crimes managed to establish the accused's connection to the crime under investigation. Therefore, the judge declared his apprehension legal, accepted the formulation of the charge, and ordered his provisional detention. This case of aggravated theft, against a 64-year-old man, occurred in the early morning of March 6. The suspect broke into the home and stole a safe containing 18-karat gold items such as pendants, chains of different thicknesses, and women's bracelets, in addition to men's and women's watches from the brands Rolex, Bulova, Citizen, Seiko, and Cartier. The preliminary investigation of the case revealed that the suspect has a criminal record for robbery and drug possession, as confirmed by the Public Ministry.
