In the year 2025, the Mayor's Office of Panama is carrying out the construction of three digital libraries in the district, as part of an educational modernization project. The investment for these three libraries amounts to 1.2 million dollars. Mayor Mayer Mizrachi has highlighted that this is one of the most important infrastructure projects of the year.
According to the mayor, users will be able to access 30 minutes of entertainment for every hour of study they conduct in these libraries. Instead of physical books, tablets will be used as the main learning tool. Additionally, there will be creative spaces, classrooms equipped with digital boards, and rooms designated for movie screenings.
The main objective of these digital libraries is to create coworking spaces where young people and students can meet and learn. According to the mayor, citizen consultation and public contracting processes have begun for the construction of digital libraries in different areas such as Juan Díaz, Betania, Tocumen, Chilibre, and Caimitillo.
The first of the works that is advancing is the one planned in Alcalde Díaz. In this locality, a citizen consultation was carried out in which the majority of residents strongly supported the idea of the digital library. The mayor noted that these libraries will operate with a decentralized system, allowing users to access services from their devices, even if they are not physically present in the facilities.
