The Cabinet Council approved Resolution No. 16-25 which authorizes the contracting, through an exceptional procedure, between Metro de Panamá, S.A. (MPSA) and the Climatizadora Company, S.A., to restore the water-cooled air conditioning system in the underground stations of Line 1 of the Metro. The agreed amount is B/.4,189,575.04, below the reference price according to a market study conducted by MPSA.
"MPSA is efficiently executing services on lines 1 and 2, optimizing the management of human resources and equipment necessary to maintain service quality," the company indicated. Preventive and corrective maintenance of the Metro system has been continuous, with the participation of Climatizadora Company, S.A.
The project includes restoration in the stations 5 de Mayo, Lotería, Santo Tomás, Iglesia del Carmen, Vía Argentina, Fernández de Córdoba, and El Ingenio. It includes temperature studies, air distribution in platforms and mezzanine, supply and return, cooling capacity, and the supply of equipment such as 12 packaged type chillers, 10 and 15 HP pumps, compressors, and other necessary equipment.
"MPSA has faced complaints from the Union of Metro Workers of Panama regarding adverse conditions that affect the productivity of employees. With the Information Request No. SDI-31551, they seek to solve the problems caused by deficiencies in the air conditioning system in the underground stations. Situations such as budget cuts and postponed projects have affected the optimal functioning of the equipment," MPSA pointed out.
