River Flooding Affects Water Treatment Plant in Pacora

Personnel from the National Aqueducts and Sewage Institute (Idaan) will continue working in the area despite the Pacora water treatment plant being out of service due to the rise of a river. This situation has left several sectors of Eastern Panama without a supply of potable water.

"Due to the rise of the river and the turbidity of the water, the Pacora water treatment plant is temporarily out of operation, which has affected the water supply to several sectors of the region. Our personnel are working hard to resolve this situation as soon as possible and restore the service promptly," said Idaan in an official statement.

The interruption in the water supply has generated concern among residents of the affected areas, who have had to turn to other sources of supply to meet their basic needs. In light of this situation, authorities have recommended that the population use water rationally and take necessary measures to mitigate the effects of this interruption in service.

"It is important for the population to be aware of the situation and cooperate with the authorities while work is being done to restore the service. We ask for understanding and patience from those affected, as we are doing everything possible to resolve this emergency as soon as we can," pointed out Idaan.

So far, no estimated time has been established for the normalization of potable water service in the affected sectors, but it is expected that the situation will be resolved in the coming hours. In the meantime, Idaan personnel will continue working at the Pacora water treatment plant to restore service and ensure water supply to the population.
