The Financial Analysis Unit (UAF) of Panama is conducting an investigation into the operations of KIP Network Inc., a company related to the cryptocurrency $Libra. This inquiry has been initiated in response to reports from New York prosecutors suggesting a connection between the digital currency and an alleged international financial fraud scheme.
According to judicial sources in the United States, the investigations began in Panama due to the presence of key companies in the scheme. Specifically, the possible involvement of Argentine president Javier Milei and his inner circle has been highlighted in this case. DarĂo Herrera, director of the UAF and an expert in money laundering, has ordered a detailed review of the companies associated with $Libra, committing to fully cooperate with the U.S. Department of Justice.
Amid the controversy, Hayden Davis, the creator of $Libra, has claimed to have compromising evidence, such as messages and videos, that could confirm the involvement of high-ranking officials in the operation. His testimony is considered crucial by U.S. authorities, as it points directly to Milei and his sister.
Meanwhile, distrust persists in New York and Panama regarding the role that Argentine authorities might play in the investigation. There are concerns that Milei's government may seek to influence the process using international cooperation mechanisms to obtain favorable information. In the face of growing international pressure and ongoing investigations, Milei's administration is facing one of its most serious challenges to date.
