Since 2011 in Panama, more than 5 million mobile number portability movements have been made. This process, which is voluntary, allows users to change telephone operators while keeping their phone number.

In this regard, a representative from the National Authority of Public Services of Panama (ASEP) commented: "Mobile number portability has meant a significant advance in the telecommunications sector in Panama, promoting competition among operators and providing users the possibility to change providers without losing their phone number."
Thanks to mobile number portability, users can access offers and promotions from different telecommunications companies, which has led to greater diversity of services and competitive rates in the Panamanian market.
