University of Panama ranks among the top 100 in Latam

The University of Panama has risen 60 positions in the SCImago Ranking 2025, now ranked 92nd in Latin America, standing out as the best in the country for the fourth consecutive year.

The University of Panama has achieved a significant rise in the academic field, moving from 152nd place in 2024 to 92nd in 2025 in the SCImago Ranking. This advancement of 60 positions in a single year places it among the top 100 universities in Latin America and maintains it as the number one institution in Panama for the fourth consecutive year.

The rector of the University, Dr. Eduardo Flores Castro, emphasized the importance of this achievement, stating that no educational institution wants to fall behind and that each advancement is significant. He explained that the ranking methodology provides a comprehensive view of university performance beyond scientific production.

The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2025 evaluates research performance, innovation through patent production and its relationship with research, as well as the social impact that measures the visibility and influence of production in networks and digital media. This ranking considers more than nine thousand academic and research institutions based on a composite indicator that combines research performance, innovation outcomes, and social impact.

The rise of the University of Panama in this international ranking highlights its educational commitment and outstanding work in research. The institution solidifies its position as one of the most distinguished in the region according to the results obtained in the latest edition of the SCImago Ranking.
