Panama's Banking Superintendent held a meeting with the IMF mission as part of the annual Article IV consultation. They discussed the economic situation and the development of the country's banking system.

The meeting was headed by the Superintendent of Banks, Milton Ayón Wong, along with his technical team. During the meeting, issues related to the country's economic and financial situation were addressed. Ayón highlighted that the visit represents an opportunity to exchange technical information and present the advances of the Panamanian banking system, in addition to reinforcing joint analysis on challenges and perspectives in financial regulation and supervision. The IMF mission will maintain a meeting agenda with representatives of the public and private sectors, as well as other economic actors, in order to gather a comprehensive view of the country's macroeconomic performance. The group is headed by Bas Bakker and a team of economists and specialists from the organization, who monitor the evolution of the Panamanian economy and the strengthening of the financial system.
