Panama's Ministry of Social Development announced the inclusion of over 6,000 new families into social assistance programs, providing nearly $2 million in economic support to the most vulnerable populations.

The Ministry of Social Development (Mides) included an estimated 6,142 beneficiaries in its Conditional Cash Transfer Programs. According to the entity, these new inclusions, benefiting families in poverty and extreme poverty, represent an economic injection of $1,862,070. "The new beneficiaries are people living in poverty and extreme poverty who had no income. From now on, they will have resources to cover basic needs," Mides highlighted. According to the entity's figures, the provinces with the highest number of new inclusions are Panama (1,165), Chiriquí (1,307), and the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca (885). By program, '65 and over' incorporated 4,048 people; the 'Opportunity Network' added 923; 'Guardian Angel' added 986; and the SENAPAN Food Bonus added 185. In the fourth payment of the year, 2,184 Panamanians were added, who will receive a total disbursement of B/.660,930. The fourth payment of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programs (PTMC) began on November 17th and will run until December 5th, Mides noted.
