The airport in Panama's Bocas del Toro province, which already operates on the same property, is purchasing an additional plot of land. Essentially, this is about legalizing the existing facilities and creating space for growth. To be precise, it's 13 hectares, or 9,988.618 m², which will allow for the runway to be extended, facilities to be improved, and, most importantly, to receive more flights simultaneously. This will benefit Bocas, as the island relies on tourism, and the current airport is insufficient during the high season. According to the Civil Aviation Authority (AAC), with this purchase, it will be possible to make improvements to raise safety standards, increase passenger flow, and strengthen Isla Colón as a major tourist destination in Panama. All of this already has the seal of approval from the Civil Aviation Authority's Board of Directors, under Resolution No. 14 of April 16, 2025. The Council of Ministers approved the purchase by the Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) of a key plot of land for the expansion of the José Ezequiel Hall International Airport in the province of Bocas del Toro, which has been too small for the number of people entering and leaving this terminal for years. The farm of Héctor Fitzgerald, registered in the Real Folio 347, will be purchased for 6 million balboas.
