Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino announced that the government will sell over 500 thousand Christmas boxes for $15 each. These boxes will contain rice, sugar, salt, gandú, and a picnic ham. This measure aims to provide economic relief to families at the end of the year. Mulino emphasized that the Christmas Fairs are not a political show, but a real relief from the rising prices that Panamanians face daily. "Christmas is for the people, not for speculators," he said. The government covers 55% of the actual cost of the box. These boxes will reach 132 locations throughout Panama, including 28 new sites, as well as islands and the Emberá-Wounaan region. The president gave a clear instruction: speed, transparency, and distribution without abuse or favoritism. "The people deserve a peaceful Christmas, without suffering for food," stated Mulino. He even joked with the director of the Christmas Fairs, Nilo Murillo, publicly committing to eating one of the good hams from Veraguas, Azuero, or Chiriquí.
