An interinstitutional group met today to define the next steps in the process of sanitary equivalence for the export of beef to the United States. The meeting aims to track progress in this important process. During the session, authorities evaluated the technical progress achieved and established key deadlines. This effort is part of a series of meetings held throughout the year to ensure compliance with each stage of the process. The importance of continuing to work in a coordinated manner between institutions to guarantee the export of the product and take advantage of the Trade Promotion Agreement (TPA) maintained with that country was also highlighted, as requested by the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino. The meeting, led by the Vice Minister of Industry and Trade, Eduardo Arango, and the presidential advisor on agricultural issues, Dr. Oscar Osorio, was attended by the director of the Panamanian Food Authority (APA), Nicolás Batista, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Health (MINSA) and the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA). The next meeting will take place in mid-December, when it is expected to continue the momentum of this strategic action for Panama's foreign trade.
