San Miguelito Municipality selects garbage collection companies

The San Miguelito Municipality has selected three companies for garbage collection starting in January. The six-month contracts total nearly $4 million, while a new 20-year concession tender is set for December.

The San Miguelito Municipality has already chosen the three companies that will collect garbage in the district from the second half of January, while the new concession contract is being managed.

In the orange zone, which includes Arnulfo Arias Madrid, Belisario Porras, Belisario Frías, and part of the Omar Torrijos and José D. Espinar districts, Roca Atlántica, S.A. was selected for a sum of 1 million 539 thousand dollars ($1,539,000.00). The company informed its clients that they will be charged in advance during those January days.

Revisalud, the current company in charge of the service, will conclude its work on January 18. In this district, the cleaning service is included in the electricity bills, which in this area are provided by the company Ensa.

The public act, called on July 31, remains in force and has not been declared void, as has been tried to be discredited on social networks. If there are no additional changes, on that date the companies competing for the concession and their economic proposals will be known.

In the green zone, which includes part of José Domingo Espinar and the entire Rufina Alfaro district, the company Volquetes y Transporte Corro, S.A. was authorized for 1 million 303 thousand dollars ($1,303,000.00).

In total, the municipality will have to pay 3 million 868 thousand dollars ($3,868,000.00) for these contracts, which have a duration of six months. They are still pending approval to proceed to the signing of contracts and to pass the endorsement of the Comptroller General's Office.

Finally, in the blue zone, which includes Victoriano Lorenzo, Amelia Denis de Icaza, part of Omar Torrijos, and the Mateo Iturralde district, Eco Septic Panama Corp. will operate for 1 million 26 thousand dollars ($1,026,000.00).

Regarding the tender for the new district concession, which will be for 20 years, the last addendum indicates that it will take place this Friday, December 19.
