In Panama, authorities have apprehended nine individuals, including three alleged ringleaders, for their suspected involvement with two criminal groups dedicated to vehicle theft and fraud in their sale. According to the National Police, eight of the suspects were captured during 'Operation Fraudcar,' carried out today by units from the Judicial Investigation Directorate (DIJ) and the Public Ministry in the districts of Pedregal, Tocumen, Juan Díaz, and Pueblo Nuevo. Meanwhile, the alleged ringleaders were detained during preliminary investigations. These groups would rent vehicles from various rental companies and then falsify documentation to sell them through digital platforms, affecting both businesses and individuals. The estimated economic damage is $100,000.
