ETESA, MOP, Fire Department and MEF Approved for Budget Transfers

ETESA and other public entities received approval for budget transfers in Panama's National Assembly. The total amount of requests reached millions of dollars.


ETESA, MOP, Fire Department and MEF Approved for Budget Transfers

The Electricity Transmission Company (ETESA) appeared before the National Assembly to request two budget transfers in the Budget Committee. Both transfers were approved, despite being questioned by some deputies. The transfers for ETESA amounted to approximately 13 million 47 thousand 983 dollars. The first is for payments of 2,545,816.00 balboas and the second for 385,200.00 balboas. Administrator Roy Morales stated that ETESA is complying with the Public Prosecutor's Office regarding inquiries from Deputy Janine Prado about the Multi Servicios company linked to former deputy Héctor Brands. Morales added that the approval of the transfers remains the energy that strengthens the institution and is a commitment to the country. Other public entities that passed through the Commission chaired by Capira deputy Eduardo Vásquez were the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) and the Fire Department. The MOP requested two million eight hundred eighteen thousand fifty-seven dollars (B/.2,818,057.00), while the Honorable Fire Corps of Panama received B/.10,502,167.00. The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) also appeared to transfer funds needed for three arbitrations at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), with a total amount for this item of B/.648,590.00. Both transfers were to fulfill commitments of services offered by private sector companies and others.
