The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, Javier Martínez-Acha, will begin on Tuesday a tour of Persian Gulf countries with the objective of strengthening bilateral relations and promoting cooperation opportunities in strategic areas. A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs specified this Monday that in Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Martínez-Acha will participate in the Governments Summit 2026, which runs until next Friday. That event “brings together leaders, experts, and decision-makers from around the world to boost international cooperation, identify solutions to the main global challenges, and develop tools, policies, and models for the governance of the future,” the Foreign Ministry said. Within the framework of that event and in his capacity as pro tempore president of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), the Panamanian chancellor will participate in a special edition of the Tenth International Cooperation Conference titled 'More than 30 years of cooperation in the Greater Caribbean,' focused on highlighting the advances and projections of regional cooperation. During a visit to Doha, the capital of Qatar, Martínez-Acha will hold meetings with local authorities and develop an agenda focused on attracting investment, as well as cultural and educational topics. As the final stop of the official mission, in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a country where Panama recently opened its embassy as part of strengthening its diplomatic presence in the Middle East, the official letter stated without specifying dates. “With this mission, Panama reaffirms its commitment to an active foreign policy and aimed at positioning itself as a bridge between the Arab countries and Latin America,” added the letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
