The government of Panama has confirmed an investment of over $11 billion in health, education, and roads as part of its 2026 strategic plan to boost economic growth and create jobs.

The government of President José Raúl Mulino remains firm in its 2026 Strategic Government Plan, with an investment in Panama exceeding B/. 11 billion in health, education, and roads. This was announced today by the Minister of Canal Affairs and Secretary of Goals, José Ramón Icaza Clément. During the installation of the Second Legislature of the Second Period of Ordinary Sessions of the National Assembly, Icaza highlighted that the funds will allow for the rescue of abandoned works and the acceleration of projects in infrastructure, health, education, and drinking water. Among the priority projects are the construction of the Arraiján water treatment plant, the completion of phase 1 of Sabanitas, and the sanitation of David. In health, investments are aimed at the Children's Hospital, the Aquilino Tejera hospital in Penonomé, and the Metetí hospital in Darién, scheduled for the end of 2027, as well as the polyclinics in San Isidro and Antón. In transportation, road infrastructure and the Metro continue to advance: Line 3 will advance with the tunnel under the Panama Canal to Balboa in February, while the underground section towards Albrook continues. Similarly, the MiBus service will be modernized with 70 new buses and an exclusive lane will be implemented on Vía España.
