Panamanian authorities have warned that heavy vehicles are not permitted to use the newly opened section of the Panama-Colón highway at Guarumal. Truck drivers are required to continue using the highway on-ramps and off-ramps. According to Humberto Harris, regional director of the Transit and Land Transportation Authority (ATTT), the new stretch is open for light vehicles and public transport, with two lanes in each direction. Police officers and ATTT inspectors will be present in the area to ensure compliance with the regulations. Signage has been installed from the Buena Vista area, indicating that the speed limit should not exceed 60 kilometers per hour, and that heavy equipment is prohibited from passing through Guarumal. He specified that six-wheeled vehicles, such as mulas and dump trucks, are not allowed to pass through the area. It is estimated that the work in this zone will be completed by February. Since August, when structural damage occurred on this stretch, the road has been closed, causing inconveniences for residents with their homes, businesses, and for passengers.
